Fort Smith residents will have an opportunity for reflection when floating lanterns light Wildcat Mountain Lake at the first Water Lantern Release Fall Festival held at Carol Ann Cross Park on Oct.25 from 3-8 p.m. The event offers a new chance for the community to gather and experience a peaceful evening.

Brother and sister group Common Roots will join a traditional song circle — featuring Chuck Dunlap, Ed Carr, Alan Castleberry, Jimmy Boose, and Ernie Hill — at the Beard and Lady Inn on October 25 from noon to 4 p.m., where local musicians are invited to join the circle.
