FINANCE NEWS

  • A winning LOTTO ticket for $1.338 million was sold at Casey’s on Phoenix Ave in Fort Smith during Wednesday’s drawing and remains unclaimed, with the winner having 180 days to claim the prize—three other high-value tickets were also sold in Hot Springs Village, Little Rock and Fort Smith.  River Valley Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials will inaugurate the new $2 million Carol Ann Cross Park greenway and boardwalk project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. today— the project includes a new inclusive playground.  River Valley Democrat-Gazette
  • The Fort Smith Fire Department was awarded nearly $700,000 from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program on October 16 to replace aging self-contained breathing apparatus that keep firefighters safe in hazardous conditions — saving the city money. This is the department’s second competitive federal grant and it will replace costly air packs before they reach the end of their life cycles.  City of Fort Smith
  • Organizers will hold a second 'No Kings' protest in more than 15 Arkansas cities including Fort Smith as part of a national demonstration in 2,500 cities this Saturday. A rally in Little Rock begins at Capitol and Broadway at 10 a.m.—more details for many locations are still being added.  Arkansas Times
