ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Two Arkansas Colleges of Health Education students, Megan Herrold from Fort Smith and Hannah Ford from Osborn, died in a two-vehicle crash on the Muskogee Turnpike Saturday at about 10:30 a.m.—a 2013 Ford Expedition hit a 2015 Honda, and the Expedition’s driver from Van Buren and four young passengers were taken to St. Francis Hospital while officials investigate the incident. - ➤ Bentonville native Nathan Kousol, 24, joined K-pop boy band 1Verse last year and the group released its first single album 'The First Verse' last week— it features singers from Korea, China, and Japan. Arkansas Times
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ UAFS and ATU-Ozark received $4 million in renewed federal TRIO grants over five years to help about 440 students with tutoring, money help and job guidance. ATU-Ozark’s $1.3 million grant will support 140 students starting Sept. 1 while UAFS’s $2.7 million grant will aid nearly 300 students in TRIO SSS and TRIO STEM programs—providing needed help for first-generation, low-income and disabled students. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Federal Judge Brian Miller issued a preliminary injunction that stops Act 624 from going into effect after CVS Health challenged the law—arguing it could force the company to close pharmacy locations and end delivery services. Governor Huckabee Sanders signed the law in April to lower prescription costs, and the ruling now pauses the state’s plan until further review. 5 News
- ➤ A federal judge in Little Rock blocked an Arkansas law signed by Gov. Sarah Sanders that would have forced CVS and other large pharmacy benefit managers to shut their retail locations—halting plans to close 23 CVS stores while the case moves forward in federal court.
