A Christmas in July vendor market was held Saturday, July 12 at the Bricks at Brunwick in downtown Fort Smith.

A proposed court judgment on Wednesday would restrict Arkansas poultry growers to using fertilizer with less than one-fourth the phosphorus allowed for Oklahoma, a ruling that could limit fertilizer options on poultry farms.
Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin called for a federal law to let states jam contraband cell phones in prisons after saying inmates used them to coordinate criminal activity—he argued that targeted jamming would block illegal use without affecting emergency calls—and U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton supports the measure. It was announced at a conference earlier this week.

Fort Smith Southside volleyball coach Natalie Throneberry praised Gabriela DuPree for her on-court talent and off-court leadership after she received the inaugural Jim Rowland Leadership Award on June 4th.
DuPree, who signed to play at Southwest Baptist University, helped lead her team to a 95-30 record and a 6A West Conference title during her four-year career—an impact her coach said will be remembered for years.
