- ➤ Fifth annual Christmas in July will feature a two-day shopping and holiday event on July 11 and 12 at The Bricks at Brunwick, 101 N. 11th St.—it will benefit the Bonneville House, the Clayton House and the Fort Smith Museum of History. River Valley Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ The Fort Smith calendar this week lists a musical Oklahoma! at the Little Theatre from July 17 to Aug. 2 with ticket sales starting July 10 at 7 a.m. for $25 on opening night — include a book club meeting at Miss Laura’s on July 12, an owl pellet dissection at the U.S. Marshals Museum today, a hand-building summer camp at Arts On Main in Van Buren through July 11, and a critter adventure with snake expert Chad Lowe at the Public Library on July 9. Additional events are a call for art submissions at Walton Arts Center (deadline Aug. 1 with selections on Aug. 12), a movie matinee on July 10, a Movies in the Park screening on July 11, and painting seashells at the Dallas Public Library on July 14. - ➤ The annual Art on the Border Art Show and Sale will be held July 18—19 at the ACHE Research Institute Health and Wellness Center at 1000 Fianna Way, where over 80 artists will exhibit original works to support local charities including Riverview Hope Campus and Donald W. Reynolds Cancer Support House. The event kicks off with a show opening party on July 18 from 5 to 9 p.m. and will continue on July 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with free admission. - ➤ Elementary teacher Autumn Minnick was inducted into an international hall of fame last week by the district—her students from Woods Elementary were also honored for their role in the achievement. River Valley Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ Five Fort Smith honors students—Laylah Johnson, Grace Klein, Paige Klein, Ada Scoggins, and Kaylene Sierra—were named among the 80 new students in UCA's Schedler Honors College and 44 in the Schedler Honors Program.
