- ➤ Fort Smith will see several street closures for sewer main replacements, storm drain improvements — and traffic signal pole installations, with affected routes including S 28th, Jacobs Ave, 26th St, Osage, Uma St, Dallas Street and N 47th scheduled from July 3 through July 27. - ➤ Fort Smith city offices will be closed Friday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day — they will reopen Monday, July 7 at 8:00 a.m. City of Fort Smith
- ➤ Arkansas will receive $44.5 million from a $7.4 billion settlement with Purdue Pharma for its role in the opioid epidemic—funds that will be divided among the state, cities and counties to support treatment, research and prevention. - ➤ The Arkansas Board of Corrections approved spending $50,000 for two test wells on the Franklin County prison site—aiming to verify if the local water supply can support the planned construction.
