  • Dog Haus will debut eight new locations in Arkansas, including Fayetteville, Bentonville, Rogers, Springdale, Fort Smith, and Little Rock — with the Fayetteville spot opening first and the others set to follow in phases. Cherokee Rhoda, an Arkansas native and CEO of Brooks & Truitt Specialty Group, said the restaurant will bring its gourmet hot dogs, sausages, and burgers to local communities.  5 News

CRIME NEWS

  • Fort Smith police arrested a 46-year-old man listed as homeless in connection with the theft of two industrial water-cooling coils valued at nearly $7,000 from a business in the 3900 block of Wheeler Avenue on June 24—McCoy remains detained in the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center with no bond set.  River Valley Democrat-Gazette

  • Miss Arkansas 2025, Kennedy Holland of Greenwood, celebrated her 21st birthday at the 5NEWS studio and reflected on the support of her hometown and her late fourth-grade teacher who once wrote a note predicting her success—she said she will use her reign to push for legislation to create accessible playgrounds for kids of all abilities.  5 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Arkansas Board of Corrections approved up to $50,000 on June 26 to drill test wells for water at the Franklin County prison site. Chairman Benny Magness said the drilling will guide decisions on water supply, with alternatives from Fort Smith, Ozark or the Arkansas River planned if needed.  5 News

  • Jeff Williams, who coached Southside to a 7A state championship, has become the new athletic director at Har-Ber High School—he said he will work closely with coaches to improve the sports program. He added that his new role comes as his family celebrated his stepson’s NBA championship win.  5 News
  • The Fort Smith Marshals — collecting 12 hits — beat the Sherman Shadowcats 10-8 on Thursday at Crowder Field in Fort Smith. The team built an early 7-1 lead by scoring two runs in each of the first three innings and added a three-run hit before Sherman scored three times in the ninth to close the gap.  River Valley Democrat-Gazette
