  • Local officials will close several streets for the True Grit Bike Ride and 5K on June 28—Sagebrush Lane will be closed between Terry and Ellis, Buckhorn from Ward to Sagebrush, Ellis, Chaffee Boulevard and Collier from Ward to Roberts Boulevard, and Taylor Avenue from Ward to Custer Boulevard.  City of Fort Smith

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Greenwood’s renovated senior center at 1915 Excelsior Road opened Wednesday, and while the event brought hope, senior centers across the county are struggling as government funding drops—forcing tough budget cuts for essential services.  River Valley Democrat-Gazette

  • Weston Wilcox led his Van Buren team to a strong finish after a rough start, winning seven of their last eight conference games to secure a third-place tie and an eighth straight trip to the state tournament. He ended the season with a key triple in a 10—6 win over Marion, finishing with a .440 batting average and 19 RBIs.  River Valley Democrat-Gazette
  • Senior Tyler Simkins helped the Panama Razorbacks reach the state tournament again with a 26-5 record and 11 straight wins by playing well in baseball, football, and basketball.
