- ➤ Fort Smith police arrested 36-year-old Anthony D. Nichols and 27-year-old Austin L. Williams on parole after a 32-year-old woman suffered a critical gunshot wound to her chest late Sunday on the 4700 block of Zero Street—authorities took the suspects into custody Monday following a search warrant. - ➤ Fort Smith Police responded to Tilles Park on June 17 to investigate a death—officers found a subject with no immediate suspicion of foul play and the investigation remains in its early stages. City of Fort Smith

- ➤ At the Arkansas Historical Association awards banquet at the U.S. Marshals Museum, the Fort Smith Museum of History received a Diamond Award — recognizing its efforts in preserving and presenting local, state and regional history. River Valley Democrat-Gazette

- ➤ At Tuesday's meeting, the Board voted that Arkoma Municipal Authority will pay the same wastewater rate as Fort Smith residents+ this new rate is more than triple its old fee. The change will raise Arkoma's water bill+ it will take effect soon. River Valley Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ Members of the Sebastian County Quorum Court will consider a 65% tax abatement for a proposed battery storage facility near Fort Smith—if approved, the measure will lower the facility's taxes. River Valley Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ Health inspectors have cited 30 restaurants in Crawford and Sebastian counties for priority food safety violations; the issues include flaws in preventing contamination (problems with cooking, reheating, cooling, and handwashing) that could raise the risk of foodborne illness. - ➤ On Monday, the Arkansas Board of Corrections voted unanimously to let its attorney start settlement talks with Attorney General Tim Griffin over claims that the board illegally hired outside counsel and broke FOIA rules—Griffin said he is not interested in settling because the terms would excuse the board’s FOIA breaches and undermine its leverage in a related case.
