- ➤ Kennedy Holland, a Greenwood native and student at UCA, was crowned Miss Arkansas 2025 on June 14 in Little Rock—she advanced to the state pageant after winning Miss Metro and received congratulations from her university and the City of Greenwood. 5 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Attorney General Tim Griffin’s office filed a brief with the state Supreme Court on Friday arguing that sovereign immunity should have led a circuit judge to dismiss the school voucher suit that challenges the LEARNS program—claiming the plaintiffs did not show the constitutional violations needed to overcome immunity. The filing is part of his ongoing effort to defend the state’s education funding plan. River Valley Democrat-Gazette

- ➤ Van Buren senior Aspen Cone and Greenwood senior Pate Jones led their basketball teams to state tournaments but are switching to play soccer in their final high school year—a change that puts their competitive spirit to a new test.
