  • Arvest Bank will host a community event on June 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the Arvest Bank Tower at 5000 Rogers Ave to announce fundraising totals from its 15th annual Million Meals campaign that supports food partners. The event will also honor the late Charolette Tidwell as bank employees present checks and food trucks sell meals to benefit next year's effort.  River Valley Democrat-Gazette

  • The Hooters restaurant on Rogers Avenue in Fort Smith closed Wednesday as part of a company-wide decision to shutter over 30 locations after a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing this spring. Customers are directed to other locations in North Little Rock, Little Rock, and Tulsa — a move aimed at strengthening the chain's future business.  River Valley Democrat-Gazette

  • Fort Smith police are searching for 28-year-old Kenneth Byrd—accused of attacking an acquaintance, stealing from him, and causing injuries during an armed robbery on June 4 at an apartment on the 5900 block of Kinkead Avenue—who may be armed and is considered dangerous.  4029 News
  • Oklahoma authorities arrested Kenneth Byrd on Wednesday in connection with an armed robbery and assault at an apartment on the 5900 block of Kinkead Avenue in Fort Smith—he is accused of attacking an acquaintance and stealing from them.  River Valley Democrat-Gazette

  • More than 100 people joined a Partners In Education luncheon at the Peak Innovation Center on Thursday where Fort Smith Public Schools and the Chamber of Commerce honored local businesses for providing school supplies and support. The event also gave awards to teachers and community members—recognizing their service to local schools.  River Valley Democrat-Gazette

  • The Arkansas Supreme Court on Thursday upheld an order blocking two 2023 laws that would let Gov. Sanders manage day-to-day prison operations, siding with the state prison board—this 5-2 decision sends the case back to circuit court for further review.  Arkansas Times

  • Today, the Blood Institute in Fort Smith will host its 42-year tradition MASH Bash from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 5300 South U Street—Executive Director Danny Cervantes says three blood mobiles will be on hand and organizers expect at least 200 donations to boost the local blood supply for the summer.  5 News

  • Fort Smith natives Isaiah Joe and Jaylin Williams are competing in the NBA Finals with the Oklahoma City Thunder as they face the Indiana Pacers, with Indiana holding a one-game lead. The players grew up in Fort Smith and played together at Northside — their shared roots inspire local youth — and game two is set for Sunday at 7 p.m.  5 News
