  • Arkansas State Parks are holding Free Fishing Weekend from noon June 6 until midnight June 8. Residents and non-residents can fish on 12 rivers and 29 lakes without a license or trout permit—daily limits remain in effect—and the AGFC will host derby events at state hatcheries where participants must register and may catch up to three fish per person.  4029 News
  • Eddie Lee Herndon was named the recipient of the Jack White Community Leadership Award and will be honored on July 17 at the United States Marshals Museum. Herndon, who works as community affairs manager at Oklahoma Gas and Electric—he previously led the local United Way, will be recognized for his longstanding service in Fort Smith.  River Valley Democrat-Gazette
