- ➤ Neo-traditional country artist Chancey Williams will perform a free 8 p.m. concert June 26 at Lee Creek Tavern inside Cherokee Casino Roland, giving local fans a taste of his Western sound. Former rodeo athlete Williams built a national following with sold-out shows. Southwest Times Record

- ➤ Arkansas film and music leaders are teaming up to boost the creative economy with two events (1 p.m. screening Saturday, May 30 at the Eureka Springs Blues Party and 6 p.m. networking meetup Wednesday, June 3 in Little Rock). Southwest Times Record
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Raymond Green has been named provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith following a national search. He will begin his role in July — replacing former provost Shadow Robinson, and he plans to relocate with his wife later this summer. River Valley Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ Arkansas education officials submitted waiver requests to the U.S. Department of Education to ease federal requirements on public schools as part of a unified education plan. The proposals are open for comment (until Tuesday) and will be reviewed over 120 days. River Valley Democrat-Gazette
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hosting a three-day Global Entry enrollment event at Fort Smith Regional Airport from June 19-21. Eligible applicants with conditional approval must schedule appointments online + free parking is available for 30 minutes at the airport lot. River Valley Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ Fort Smith leaders are reviewing the injury pay policy for city employees after Officer Kyle Newman was shot on duty this month — they plan to revisit the plan in June. In Lavaca, community members showed support by placing over 60 blue lights around town. 5 News
