- ➤ UA-Fort Smith will raise tuition and fees from $9,826 to $10,181 next academic year following a 3.61% hike approved by the UA System Board on Thursday in Harrisburg + similar increases are planned at other UA campuses. River Valley Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ Fort Smith Public Schools named Marshal Hurst as principal of Northside High School on May 21 after he served as assistant principal (since 2023) and worked with the Arkansas Department of Education and Spiro High School. Superintendent Terry Mahan said Hurst’s commitment to student growth will continue Northside’s tradition. Southwest Times Record
- ➤ Southside High teacher Mark Minnick was named one of three national recipients of the APA teaching excellence award on May 21. With 32 years of experience, he will receive a certificate, engraved award — and a $500 cash prize as his work makes psychology relatable for local students. Southwest Times Record
