Fort Smith native Dr. Lan Chi Le, whose family arrived at Fort Chaffee as refugees, started US Dental Professionals to provide affordable dental care through Walmart and her company is expanding with 10 new offices in Texas & Florida.

Tuesday evening, the U.S. Marshals Museum in Fort Smith hosted a free historical discussion called Building a Government that examined key choices about the Articles of Confederation in honor of the nation's 250th birthday, and organizers asked people to register before attending.

Anthony Mendez, a Northside High School student in Fort Smith, received the OG&E 2026 Positive Energy Scholarship Tuesday.

He will earn $15,000 per year to help pay for his mechanical engineering studies at the University of Arkansas, joining two other first-generation college awardees.

Mercy Hospital Waldron, a 24-bed (critical access) hospital in Scott County, was named one of the nation’s Top 20 for quality care by the National Rural Health Association on May 12.

It is one of three Mercy facilities recognized, highlighting its role in offering 24-hour emergency services to rural communities.
