  • Fort Smith police located a vehicle tied to a missing persons case from Ohio—its owner is Mohamed Alpha, 18, who was reported missing from Columbus and labeled as endangered, so investigators ask anyone with information to call 479-709-5000.  5 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Fifty-nine students at Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society during the spring 2025 semester—recognizing their skill development and academic achievement in career and technical courses.  River Valley Democrat-Gazette
  • Southside High School awarded 39 students the Arkansas Seal of Biliteracy in a record 15 languages during an April 28 ceremony that set a state record. Spanish was the most common certification with 20 awards — one student earned trilingual status in Portuguese, Spanish and English.  Southwest Times Record

  • J.B. Jackson led area residents to document Native American graves near Tate Cemetery in Franklin County after Chickamauga Nation members raised concerns that the state’s plan to build a 3,000-bed prison may disturb sacred burial sites—officials have not announced any change to the project.  River Valley Democrat-Gazette
