- ➤ The Arkansas River Valley RC Crawlers group is hosting Crawling for Cancer on Sunday at noon at 1050 Bell Park Road in Greenwood to raise money for Reynolds Cancer Support House during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The event will include rock crawling races in three classes and a sumo contest—participants pay 5 dollars to enter while local organizations donate prizes, with proceeds going to charity. - ➤ Today a documentary about Fort Smith native General William O. - ➤ Chancellor Terisa Riley from UAFS said on April 25th that a new four-year Advanced Manufacturing Engineering program was approved for fall and the Radiography Quiz Bowl team won the 34th Annual Arkansas event by beating the top-ranked team twice. She also noted that the UAFS Day of Giving will be held April 29-30 and that end-of-semester celebrations like concerts and award ceremonies are planned—details will follow. - ➤ The city of Fort Smith hired a new director of internal audit Tuesday — she was fired Thursday after news revealed she is charged with a felony in Oklahoma and records show she was investigated by police in 2023. River Valley Democrat-Gazette

- ➤ State health officials said three flu-related deaths in Arkansas over the past week have raised the season’s death toll to 177—information they shared on Thursday. River Valley Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ Health officials said a measles case may have exposed people at a Sallisaw Walmart at 1101 W. Ruth Ave. between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. on April 18—unvaccinated individuals or those concerned are advised to complete a health assessment. Local officials added that a Fort Smith hospital and pet clinic were named as possible exposure sites after an out-of-state visitor with measles was reported on April 24. 5 News
