  • Andrea Parton grew up around libraries and now she works as the Discovery and Access Librarian at Boreham Library at UAFS, a job she began on April 4th, 2022. She learned cataloging skills from her past work as a teacher and library assistant — her work now makes library tasks faster and simpler — and she also teaches a course for student success.  University of Arkansas Fort Smith
  • Fort Smith Public Schools must let a student who transferred from Northside High School join sports immediately, the state Supreme Court ruled in a four-to-three decision. The majority opinion found that Arkansas Code 6-18-1904 f lets transfer students compete in extracurricular activities when they move between schools in the district.  River Valley Democrat-Gazette
  • On April 18, University of Arkansas—Fort Smith chancellor Dr. Terisa Riley updated the campus community on the successful launch of Workday Student registration with over 1,400 students and congratulated the Governor’s Cup finalists for their strong business plan; she also noted that the legislative session recessed with 1,928 bills filed and that many campus events will soon celebrate student success ahead of commencement.  University of Arkansas Fort Smith
  • The University of Arkansas — Fort Smith announced the winners of its 18th Annual Student Research Symposium on April 18, where 14 research presentations were chosen and 23 students received monetary awards for projects covering fields like science, business, and arts — marking a strong display of innovative research.  University of Arkansas Fort Smith
  • UAFS will hold three commencement ceremonies on May 10 at the Stubblefield Center to honor over 650 graduates from programs in business, health, education and the arts; the events will also recognize master’s degree and technical certificate recipients with ages ranging from 17 to 57. Dr. Ken Warden, commissioner of the Arkansas Division of Higher Education and former UAFS administrator, will deliver the keynote address at each ceremony + parking is available in all campus lots except those near the Stubblefield Center reserved for disability.  Southwest Times Record
