- ➤ Fort Smith Police and Fire responded to a structure fire today at Shamrock Liquor on Midland Blvd—heavy traffic delays have led officials to ask motorists to avoid the area while investigations continue with no injuries reported. 4029 News
- ➤ The Fort Smith Fire Department and Police Department responded to a fire at Shamrock Liquor on Midland Boulevard on April 16 around 5 a.m.—traffic was delayed and no injuries were reported as officials investigated the cause. 5 News

- ➤ On April 9, Fort Smith police said the suspect in the double murder pointed his gun at a woman—who shouted 'Please don’t shoot me!'—and fled the scene. River Valley Democrat-Gazette
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The city of Fort Smith is hosting public meetings ahead of the May 13 election to discuss proposals to extend and rearrange taxes and to authorize a bond issue to fund federally mandated wastewater improvements—residents can ask questions about the proposals at these meetings. The first meeting is held today at 6 p.m. in the Public Library community room, with additional sessions set for April 28 and May 5. 4029 News
- ➤ Two Sebastian County deputies were honored Tuesday at the Quorum Court for lifesaving efforts during a swift-water rescue on April 6 when a vehicle entered the Arkansas River—Cpl. John O'Mara and Deputy Devin Smothers helped rescue a man in danger. County officials also repealed the 1989 911 agreement with Fort Smith and approved a new merged system called River Valley Communications Center to serve the entire county.
