  • The Levitt Amp is hosting its 2025 music series in downtown Fort Smith every Thursday until May 1 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Riverfront Park and the Bakery District — Ava Earhart said the free concerts with kid zones and free parking will help bring community groups together.  4029 News

CRIME NEWS

  • At approximately 7:41 PM on April 9, Fort Smith police responded to a shooting at Foxfire Club on N. 10th St and discovered two victims who later died while detectives identified 45-year-old Nephesh Ruach from Spiro, Okla as the armed suspect—residents are urged not to approach him and to call 911 if they have information—the investigation is ongoing.  City of Fort Smith
  • Fort Smith police are searching for 52-year-old Leanne Ridings—measuring 5'5" and around 130 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes—who was last seen in jeans and a Gary Richrath shirt as her family said she is endangered due to health reasons.  5 News

  • The Arkansas Senate passed House Bill 1150—aimed at stopping prescription drug middlemen from owning pharmacies—and sent it to Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders for her signature.  River Valley Democrat-Gazette
  • Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed House Bill 1633, which regulates high school athlete transfers by requiring 10th grade students who transfer after June 1 to sit out varsity sports for 365 days+the law takes effect immediately and exempts transfers due to bona fide moves and hardship cases.  5 News
