Pea Ridge National Military Park preserves the site of a 1862 Civil War battle that helped decide Missouri’s fate, and visitors can explore historic trails linked to the battle and the Trail of Tears.

The park offers a vivid look into important local history.

The Western District, a one-act historical drama that brings Fort Smith’s 1871 court corruption to life, will open at 7 p.m. on April 9 at Prima Italia Dinner & Show Experience with follow-up shows on April 11 at Digs and April 12 at Pridgin Family Brewery.

In Fort Smith, the Arkansas Colleges of Health Education received a $100,000 donation from the Arvest Foundation to fund its Adopt a Scholar program — which will award $25,000 per year for tuition.
