- ➤ University of Arkansas at Fort Smith will host a free presentation on April 9 with Dr. Mae Jemison—NASA's first science mission specialist and first Black woman in space. The event will begin at 6 p.m. in the Reynolds Room of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center as part of the Winthrop Rockefeller Distinguished Lecturer Program and will include a question and answer session along with a book signing. - ➤ Alma Nursing and Rehab will soon expand its assisted living center with an $8.5 million project that adds four wings to provide 60 extra beds, dialysis, two hospice rooms and a secured dementia unit with private rooms—designed to ease daily patient rejections due to limited capacity.
