On March 20, UAFS alumni learned their residency placements during Match Day at ARCOM (five graduates were among 126 students) and reflected on how UAFS prepared them for medical school.

State lawmakers will review House and Senate Education committees' recommendations from the school adequacy report by November to set per-student funding for 259 districts for the next two school years.

The process uses a funding matrix that follows state-mandated guidelines for an adequate public education.

Beck Pair, a Fort Smith native who graduated college in 2021, returned in fall 2024 to work at UA-Fort Smith and helps students learn about local opportunities through departmental newsletters (offering guidance on classes and campus resources).

On Thursday, March 26, officials (including the Mayor and Board of Directors) attended a ribbon cutting at Tilles Park Playground at 10:45 a.m. located at 1017 North 37th Street.

Baptist Health Fort Smith plans changes over the next 12 to 18 months to boost sustainability by reinvesting in some services and shifting others to its downtown campus — where over $20 million will be invested.

Mayor McGill warns these changes may reduce local care.
