- ➤ Fort Smith will host the 2nd Annual General Darby Challenge on Sunday, April 27 at 7:00 a.m. at Cisterna Park, offering a ruck march, half marathon, 10K, or 5K to honor General William O. Darby and sister cities in Italy. Participants must register by March 31 to take advantage of early pricing — finishers will earn medals and top performers will receive special recognition — while a Silent Mile will honor WWII Arkansans and mark the 80th anniversary of General Darby’s death and the World War II armistice. - ➤ Fort Smith-based ArcBest will hold its annual shareholders meeting on April 25 with board elections, an advisory vote on executive compensation and ratification of its independent accounting firm. A Securities and Exchange Commission filing showed that executive pay decreased in 2024, with the CEO’s compensation dropping from $6.31 million to $4.50 million—information that will be discussed at the meeting. - ➤ A motorcyclist was flown to the hospital after a hit-and-run on Tennessee Road just south of Fort Smith on Monday—Warren Campbell, 52, is in critical condition while police arrested John Bailey of Bonanza, who now faces a Class B felony charge for leaving the scene of an accident with serious injury. 4029 News
- ➤ Brian Keith Mays—whose ties include Arkansas—was convicted on March 13 in federal court for armed bank robbery at FNB Community Bank in Harrah, Oklahoma, where he stole $12,123. River Valley Democrat-Gazette
