- ➤ State film festivals and the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission are hosting a statewide video contest for students (grades 9-12) to create 30-second commercials (promoting environmental responsibility) until April 24, with winners announced at an Arkansas Cinema Society Summer Screening and awarded prizes plus a teacher’s lodge stay. FINANCE NEWS
- ➤ Farm Credit of Western Arkansas will return $10 million of its 2025 profits to borrower-members later this month at open houses (Fort Smith, Alma, Ozark, Paris and Clarksville), with checks mailed to those unable to attend. - ➤ At Mercy Fort Smith, doctors implanted the new Medtronic EV-ICD device on Feb. 2; it places its lead under the breastbone to lower long-term risks (such as vein blockages and infections) and showed a 98.7% defibrillation success rate at six months. Southwest Times Record

- ➤ Fort Smith Southside had a big signing day as football player Peyton Zimmerman signed with Harding University+joining his brother.
