- ➤ Fort Smith School Board voted 6-1 Monday to close Carnall and Spradling elementary schools at the end of this academic year, adjust attendance zones to keep teachers and programs supported, and hire Rusty Bush as director of athletics and activities, with Bush starting Feb. 16. - ➤ UAFS athletics hired Kris Hutchins as Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance on Monday from Wiley University in Marshall (Texas) where he improved student-athlete retention and GPA.
