  • River Valley Regional Food Bank received a $50,000 Legacy grant from the Arkansas Community Foundation, which will help expand its food services and support three new pantry sites, one of nine Legacy grant awards given statewide as part of a $1 million funding program.  River Valley Democrat-Gazette

  • From Northwest Arkansas, Onyx Coffee Lab was named a semifinalist for the James Beard Outstanding Bar award and its team said the honor motivates them to work harder, with advancing nominees to be announced on March 31 and a ceremony scheduled on June 15 in Chicago.  5 News
  • Bishop Anthony Taylor compared current U.S. developments with conditions seen during the Nazi rise and Great Depression in a social media post this week — his remarks add to ongoing discussions about societal changes.  River Valley Democrat-Gazette

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Snow from a winter storm dropped 12 inches in Witts Springs on Jan. 25 and nearly a foot in parts of Northwest Arkansas, while the River Valley received 8 inches. Schools closed Monday through Thursday and ADOT expects roads to be clear by Friday or Saturday.  4029 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Baptist Health Hospital in Fort Smith reported a rise in winter storm illnesses on Jan. 23, with emergency room staff treating cases of hypothermia, carbon monoxide poisoning & cardiac events, including slips and falls. Staff plan to monitor an expected increase in viral respiratory illnesses over the next week.  5 News
