  • Heavy snowfall and sleet hit the River Valley late Friday, and free rides for essential workers began Saturday as icy roads made commuting dangerous; a storm warning remains until 3 p.m. today with additional snow and sleet expected.  River Valley Democrat-Gazette
  • Fort Smith's Hope Campus has expanded its shelter capacity during a severe winter storm, adding extra mats and opening space for the unhoused and their pets when temperatures fall below 40 degrees. The shelter provides warm beds, blankets and winter clothing, and invites local donations + volunteer support to help those in need.  5 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • An anonymous $7.5 million gift has created a permanent endowment for local Catholic schools during Catholic Schools Week to fund tuition assistance and enhanced STREM programming.
