- ➤ The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade took place Monday, Jan. 19 in downtown Fort Smith to honor his legacy — local officials, organizers, and community members joined the event. River Valley Democrat-Gazette
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Monday morning saw a MLK Day breakfast at UAFS with speaker Dr. Dewayne Goldmon, who stressed that hope must be paired with action during lectures and a civil rights display. The university is also collecting peanut butter donations for the River Valley Regional Food Bank. 4029 News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Arkansas Department of Health recognized 48 hospitals, 38 ambulance services, three regional teams, and three individuals for high stroke care performance from July 2024 to June 2025 (including Mercy Hospital Fort Smith among the honorees). This award recognizes measures such as defect-free care, door-to-CT times, and EMS prenotification practices. River Valley Democrat-Gazette
