COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Local bar The Forge will close temporarily for renovations after strong community support, and it will reopen in a few weeks to a couple of months later this year—owner Ronnie Ringer confirmed the change today.  Arkansas Times

HEALTH NEWS

  • In December, health inspectors reviewed local restaurants and found several had priority violations + improper food storage practices, including expired permits and temperature issues, while a few establishments reported no issues. Officials said these measures are key to preventing foodborne illness.  River Valley Democrat-Gazette
  • Fort Smith EMS now operates in a new 7,000 sqft building on North 11th Street to cut north side response times with two ambulances and an advanced response vehicle while using the center for medic training, with full operations by week's end.  5 News
