- ➤ Fort Smith residents will enjoy the 26th annual Holiday Express at Creekmore Park starting Monday, Dec. 1. The train will run every Monday through Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. until Dec. 27—excluding Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. River Valley Democrat-Gazette

- ➤ Rachel Lehman, an assistant professor of mathematics at UAFS, was honored on November 18 by the Arkansas Council of Teachers of Mathematics with the Teacher of the Year award—recognizing her effective methods and leadership in college teaching. Lehman, a first-generation student who now directs regional math competitions, said the honor reflects the strong support she has received from her colleagues. River Valley Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ Professor Patti Conard at UAFS School of Nursing was named Arkansas Nurse of the Year in Education by the March of Dimes after a statewide review of hundreds of nominees.
