- ➤ Four degree programs at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith have been reaccredited by the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering—confirming that the Electronics Technology, General Technology-Welding, Electrical Engineering Technology, and Organizational Leadership programs meet rigorous standards. - ➤ City leaders in Fort Smith said the Parrot Island slide project has only $650,000 left from a $4.2 million budget, which is far short of the $2.5 million needed to install five slides. Officials said they will finish the work before spring and are frustrated that the cost estimates were off — leaving a funding gap that must be addressed. 5 News
- ➤ Arkansas Department of Human Services warned SNAP recipients on Wednesday that if the government shutdown continues, November benefits may be delayed and processing of new applications will slow—officials advise using current benefits on shelf-stable foods and seeking help from local food sources.
