- ➤ A delay in final crime lab records — including the autopsy report — has postponed the trial of a Fort Smith man accused of negligent homicide in a fatal truck-motorcycle hit-and-run crash. River Valley Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ Following drive-by shootings and gunfire that caused property damage and one fatality, the Fort Smith Police Department formed a Violent Crimes Task Force on July 29—its new unit will target offenders to help keep our streets safe. City of Fort Smith

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ UAFS and the Arkansas Colleges of Health Education signed an affiliation agreement on August 25 that gives qualified UAFS students a guaranteed interview for graduate programs in health care—this deal covers programs like osteopathic medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and biomedicine. - ➤ The UAMS physical therapy program and ATU-Ozark’s cardiac sonography program posted 100% board exam pass rates for their Class of 2025—ATU-Ozark graduates took the Cardiovascular Credentialing International exam after many lab hours.
