- ➤ Sixteen Fort Smith youths will attend the Arkansas Boys State session from May 25 to 30 at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway—joining over 610 young men from 207 high schools in the program’s largest class in 10 years. More than 75 volunteers will guide the students through leadership and civic activities during this immersive experience. River Valley Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ Brea Green, the lone member of Southwest High golf, earned a full-ride scholarship to UA Pine Bluff after signing her letter of intent in Gryphon Arena on Wednesday+ she is the first Southwest graduate to receive a golf scholarship and also competed on the school swimming team. Arkansas Times
- ➤ The Arkansas Colleges of Health Education Mentoring and Achievement Preparation (M.A.P.) Program received the 2025 Inspiring Programs in STEM Award from Insight Into Academia magazine. - ➤ Starting June 1, Arkoma residents will see their sewer rate jump from $2.69 to $8.75 per cubic foot to match Fort Smith rates.
