- ➤ On April 1, Fort Smith police reported a pedestrian was struck on Towson Avenue — South O Street and sustained life-threatening injuries as accident reconstruction crews worked at the scene with delays anticipated. 5 News

- ➤ Live music returns at Riverfront Park as the Levitt AMP Fort Smith Music Series kicks off its fifth year of free concerts on April 3 at 6 p.m.—featuring Nashville band Brother Maven and local act Niki Waters Band. - ➤ The Fort Smith school board suspended Northside High School teacher Robert Taylor for 90 days without pay after a racial slur appeared on a test generated by his approved AI tool— the board voted six to one, modifying an initial recommendation to terminate him— while Taylor maintained that the tool was used only to create questions on literary devices. 4029 News

- ➤ On Monday, the Arkansas Senate approved a bill that would require the State Department of Finance and Administration to provide a fiscal impact statement for citizen-initiated ballot measures—if the attorney general determines the measure has a financial impact after certifying its ballot title and popular name. - ➤ Greenwood Mayor Doug Kinslow cut the ribbon on the renovated senior center at 1917 Excelsior Road Monday as more than 60 residents and local officials attended the ceremony. Officials said the facility (funded with ARPA, grant money, and local donations) is not yet ready for full use and will later host senior programs and community events once the move is complete. - ➤ Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders on March 17 announced the Defense Against Criminal Illegals Act to crack down on dangerous criminal illegal aliens and increase penalties — the law would also require local law enforcement to join federal ICE under a jail enforcement model. Senate Bill 426 was introduced by Senate President Pro Temp Bart Hester and Representative Frances Cavenaugh, passed the Judiciary Committee on March 31, and must now be approved by both legislative chambers before taking effect. 5 News
