- ➤ Alma officials reported that a mental health exam is pending for a 25-year-old man accused of 10 counts of second-degree sexual assault against three girls ages 10 and under — his parents are also accused of witness tampering. River Valley Democrat-Gazette

- ➤ Ozark native singer-songwriter Jesse Welles made his late-night television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night—he performed his song Horses from his album Middle. He also recently released a 63-track compilation titled Under The Powerlines that features field recordings from his social media videos. Arkansas Times
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ A report from the Arkansas Division of Workforce Policy and Innovation showed that unemployment stayed at 3.6% from January to February as the labor force grew by 1,345 and 3,600 nonfarm payroll jobs were added+ gains came in private education and health services while the national jobless rate climbed from 4.0% to 4.1%. 5 News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Arkansas voters approved an expansion of lottery-funded scholarships in November so that technical and vocational students can now receive awards along with four-year college students. The state will spend $150 million during the 2025-26 school year on more awards—this includes a $9 million boost for career training, a doubling of first-year scholarships, and new funds for families of fallen public servants and disabled students. - ➤ Local officials advised River Valley residents to prepare for tornadoes as severe weather peaks during March, April and May (with potential for storms several times a week). Officials said Sebastian County provides 36 shelters and Crawford County has 13 (with one more in construction) for community use. River Valley Democrat-Gazette
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Although Arkansas has reported no measles cases, seven cases were confirmed in northwest Oklahoma as the CDC reported 309 cases in 18 states mainly from southern Texas. Dr. Robert Hopkins warned measles can lead to life-threatening complications (such as pneumonia and lasting immune damage) and urged those unvaccinated to get their shots. 5 News
