- ➤ First Presbyterian Church of Fort Smith partnered with Undue Medical Debt to raise over $63,000 that will forgive more than $17 million in medical debt for over 11,000 residents in Sebastian and Crawford counties. Eligible locals will be notified by mail starting mid-February if they meet income or hardship criteria. Southwest Times Record

- ➤ UAFS' Black Student Alliance held its first Black History Month event yesterday on campus featuring poetry, music and African attire, and will present three more cultural events this month. 5 News
- ➤ Today, Fayetteville hosted the ALLPS School of Innovation Black History Month celebration and Crystal Bridges is hosting an evening event; the University of Arkansas will honor Florence Price on Saturday and Fort Smith will feature 'Black History in the Making' on Thursday in the Bakery District. 4029 News

- ➤ Crappie University class will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the UAFS Center for Economic Development at The Bakery District— the $99 fee covers four instructional sessions, a catered lunch, and lure samples with local experts leading a Q&A on fishing electronics. - ➤ The Arkansas Colleges of Health Education in Fort Smith announced new online doctorate programs in executive leadership, medical science, and public health (with the inaugural classes starting this summer) while a physician associate degree program is set to launch in fall 2028. - ➤ Award-winning actress and creative producer Silvia 'Punkin' Mathis will lead a 90-minute virtual Self-Tape Mastery workshop at 1 p.m. on Feb. 28 – the session will help actors overcome self-doubt and technical hurdles for better auditions. River Valley Democrat-Gazette

- ➤ Rafael Oseguera installed solar panels Tuesday on a canopy under construction at 215 Garrison Ave that will cover the Fort Smith Farmers Market. The 340-kilowatt panels are expected to produce 500,000 kilowatt hours annually while spanning the two central parking rows. River Valley Democrat-Gazette
