True Crime Tonight - The Ugly Underneath with Carlos Rodriquez

About this event

Carlos Rodriguez spent 27 years with the Washington State Patrol, retiring as a Detective Sergeant and FBI Task Force Officer after leading the state's Missing and Exploited Children Task Force and building multidisciplinary investigative models later replicated across the country. He is the author of the bestselling memoir The Ugly Underneath: Navigating the Emotional Toll of Investigating Crimes Against Children. In this talk, Rodriguez shares candid stories from the field, how he approached and navigated some of the most difficult cases of his career, and what he has learned since about compartmentalization, resilience, and staying grounded in this kind of work. This talk blends true crime storytelling with practical, hard-won insight for anyone who works with children, serves in law enforcement, or wants an honest look at what happens behind the scenes of these investigations.
